Women’s History Month

I try not to work weekends because you can’t work all the time, but sometimes you just need to catch up.  Since we had so many winter storm closings in February, I wasn’t quite where I had planned to be with some Mjolnir production, but the last few Saturdays I’ve gone in to work on Mjolnir and make up for our ‘snow days’.

It’s quiet, no one else is here but me, and I just completed testing on a small production run of Pulse Wands and am ready to work on the peripheral gear that goes with the Pulse Boxes.  So I thought I’d take a minute and say hello.  I was thinking while I was working, that I am undecided of the value of events like Women’s History Month, as I think they may segregate as much as they help call attention to womens’ accomplishments.  I sincerely doubt the strength of an event like this is in the accomplishments, though, as it seems to place more emphasis on the sex of the person doing the accomplishment.  True accomplishments are not measured in terms of sex or gender, and neither sex nor gender have anything to do with making history, writing great novels, composing great music, cooking wonderful things to eat, raising fine children, becoming philanthropists or philosophers, architects or engineers.  So when I see ‘Here are women who have done great things,” or ‘Here are men who have done great things,’ I think I would be happier for the human race if I was not seeing the most pointed attention called to the accident of birth instead of the great things that were done.  The discoveries, the inventions, the milestones and the breakthroughs are what should be the subject of the celebration, in my opinion.

I would hope people don’t look at my accomplishments and see the sex.  I hope they would say ‘Hey, someone built this amazing Pulse Violet Wand,’ instead of ‘Hey, some woman built this amazing Pulse violet wand.”

In this photo, Pulse Wands complete and tested, and installed into their cases.  Waiting for peripherals, the LOKI cable  / Hel handle combination.

I am sorry everyone, this run of Pulse Wands was all pre-ordered so they are all spoken for.  These clients who pre-ordered them have been waiting a good while.  It’s the last set that were pre-purchased so the next time we make Pulse Wands they will be put on the website for purchase.
