Things you wish you knew:  Breaking the Violet Wand Impact Barrier

In the early years of violet wands, the first generation of violet wand ‘floggers’ were constructed of mylar or ball chain, both conductive tools that allowed electrical current to travel.  While there are many on the market and both types are fun and functional accessories to a violet wand kit, both of these two types had and continue to have some inherent issues that prevented full impact play with a violet wand.

Mylar floggers could not be used for full impact, as mylar shredded with striking.  With the ball chain floggers,  the electricity spark would be too brief to notice.  And since both could not be used for actual flogger impact, violet wand play with them consisted mostly of dragging or pouncing the electrified tips along the skin.

A third issue that prevented full use, is that these types of accessories were restricted to Indirect or Reverse techniques, which meant that a good percentage of electrical current was lost by passing it through another person by means of a Body Contact Cable.  It was not possible to achieve full impact, and it was not possible to deliver full strength current, and often these types of toys drifted to the bottom of a toy bag with disuse.

As violet wand makers and users worked on the issues that prevented full function, a direct type accessory came into being, a flogger type that could be inserted directly into the wand.  While attempting to solve the issue of delivering full current, they also had issues that prevented full use.  A mylar accessory inserted direct into the wand like an electrode, would build up too much heat in the gaps between sparks, and would melt.  A ball chain direct accessory did not melt and was able to deliver full current, but again, you had to drag it on skin and could not impact with it. It was an advance and could deliver full current, but the goal of full impact play complete with sparks had yet to be achieved.

The first full impact flogger for violet wand use was a copper braided cat o nine tails introduced in 2004.  This toy achieved the OTHER half of the vw impact play dilemma; it was electrically conductive and could be used for full impact using Indirect or Reverse with a Body Contact Probe or Pad.  This made it a step closer (think generation 2.0) but it still grounded out when striking, making the sparks brief.  Because it was an Indirect toy  and the current passed through a person before reaching it, the copper braid cat did not deliver full vw current.

The big breakthrough came in 2009 with development of current delivery ‘systems’ for the violet wand which enabled current to bypass the user and reach the toy unbuffered to deliver full strength spark.   Now Indirect/Reverse conductive toys could be made Direct.  From there it was a matter of constructing the new Direct violet wand toys so that they would provide full impact like the 2nd generation copper braided cat, but also insulating them at their delivery so that they would provide continuous sparks with every strike without grounding out.

Generation 3 violet wand impact toys have been available since 2010.  While they are available only through MJOLNIR Advanced Violet Wand Systems*, there were many people who have worked on their development over the years.  The experts at the International Violet Wand Guild submitted ideas and suggestions for development of this type of product in a corroborative effort.  We as a violet wand company, and the violet wand community as a whole, owe the members of the Violet Wand Guild our thanks for their continuous pushing of the boundaries of violet wands and endlessly asking “What If..?”

Floggers, paddles and slappers and other Direct violet wand toys that jack into a current delivery system to deliver full current are the most intense violet wand toys available. They boost end sensation to a great degree beyond the capabilities of any Indirect toy held in the hand, as there is no human flesh buffer diluting the current between the violet wand and the recipient.  Many people find they can not easily take full violet wand current along with impact.  But for those whom violet wands have never seemed ‘enough’, striking impact plus full violet wand current is an out of body experience.

What generation 3 violet wand impact toys DO:

  • Deliver full current to the bottom without passing it through the top first
  • Provide uninterrupted current, due to their insulation
  • Provide real impact
