Sexual Discrimination

Sexual discrimination-I was interviewed the other week for a podcast on fetish sexuality, and I’ve been thinking about one question.

“Do you ever face sexual discrimination in your industry?”  I said no. I was wrong, of course, but I answered no because I don’t ‘FEEL’ it or internalize it.  Naturally women in the sciences such as physics face sexual discrimination.  And naturally women dominants or tops or fetish educators face sexual discrimination from the males who think women can’t possibly be tops or educators or dominants.  And of course I rub a lot of testosterone the wrong way because I’m a businesswoman.  You probably can imagine how many MEN leave me phone messages to tell me how to run my business because they don’t like how I do it.  Delete, roll eyes, delete.

But now imagine being in electricity and female.  And imagining designing, engineering, and manufacturing electrical goods.  Oh yes, lol.  The sheer gnashing of teeth and thumping of hairy chests in king of the mountain sexual discrimination.  Wanda can’t possibly make her stuff, she’s a woman! Wanda doesn’t know what she’s talking about, she’s a woman!  Wanda is not an expert, only men are!  Maybe I should have thought about the question more before answering.  Do men make those kinds of remarks about me? yes. Do they think I’m not capable solely because I’m female? yes. Does it matter? no.

If chauvinist men are on the ground grumbling about these two women linemen, does that keep the women on the ground? Not one bit.  Let them grumble.

If overly dominant men with submissives and slaves don’t like me doing what I do because I’m a woman+ because they can’t do it, does that affect me? …Not that I notice. And the chauvinists are so few and far between anymore anyway. There are women in the air because they are better at what they do than the men on the ground, and if chauvinists can’t face that, that’s THEIR problem not mine. (Yes boys, I can do this, and you can’t.) So I made a very boring reply to the hot topic question of sexual discrimination.  I don’t think it was a great interview with me.  Everyone faces sexual discrimination, everyone.

(I think they want me. If you were a chest-thumping dominant into electrical fetishes, wouldn’t you want to beat the queen of electrical kink into awed, kneeling submission? pfffftttttt)

  1. I used to watch sellers ganging up on you on Fetlife and thought how horrible you must have it being the head of violet wands. If we have female heroes in the kink community for beating the odds of toxic male privilege and hateful male arrogance you are it.
