Phase Shift Electrode – Just For Blog Readers

We use 3 noble gases in our electrodes; argon, neon, and xenon.  By themselves, argon creates a violet glow, neon an orange-red glow, and xenon glows light blue.  To get pink we mix argon and neon.  Well, we made some Phase Shift electrodes by mixing argon, neon and xenon and evacuating them at harder than normal vacuum.  When we evacuate at a higher than normal vacuum, the gases don’t mix as well and continually try to separate. We’ve made two tone shifting gas electrodes this way in the past by using the neon/argon mix and hard vacuum, but this time we used all three gases. In these slim probe electrodes this results in a continuously shifting color; sometimes blue, sometimes pink, sometimes peach, sometimes light violet…and everywhere in between.

This photo is done with a long exposure time to try to capture the shifting. Its just one of our regular slim probe electrodes –the gas attempt to separate, or ‘phase shift’, is what is unique. We didn’t scientifically measure so they will all be and behave a bit differently (just a quick pfft on the manifold), but we’ve run them all to make sure they are shifting color. The WAND YOU HAVE WILL AFFECT THE SHIFT; we made these specifically for electromechanical heavy duty violet wands (Tesla type) and I wont even guess how they would behave with electronic wands or the really low output devices, so that would be on you.  These will have a lifetime guarantee on gas leakage, seal and endcap as usual but not on gas behavior. Try exciting them at different points on the electrode with a metal electrode and watch the colors change.  When put in the wand, neon seems to want to hang at either end where the ionization is strongest.

We made 8 ONLY just for fun, just for readers of my blog, so you need to click on this link and get there from here–this is NOT in the regular catalogue.

Do you notice how the long exposure picks up a WAVE PATTERN IN THE PLASMA!  absolutely fabulously fascinating
